Like every council in Wales, Gwynedd is facing huge cuts in the funding it gets from the Government towards the cost of paying for local services. This means that there will be far less money available to pay for local services over the next few years.
At the same time, the pressure on Gwynedd Council services is set to increase dramatically. This is as a result of a combination of factors such as the fact that the number of older people living in Gwynedd is set to increase considerably over the next ten years.
As a result, continuing as we are is not an option and radical changes now need to be made if the Council wants to be in a position to continue to provide vital support for our most vulnerable people for the coming decade.
Meeting the challenge ahead will require a real team effort, and over the coming months the Council will be inviting residents, community groups and partner organisations to learn more about the problems we need to tackle and to contribute to this important county-wide debate.
